PROGRAMME OUTLINE

This course will assist participants in understanding key curriculum concepts in terms of how science curricula organise their topics or content. As well, the course will examine how learning content in curricula may be expressed in different ways, especially through the use of learning outcomes. Knowing the characteristics of the latter can help teachers determine the overall cognitive demands of science curricula, which will be explored here using a revised Bloom’s taxonomy. Participants will also learn how to ensure that learning outcomes and topics are organised in a coherent manner to ensure effective and meaningful learning.
